March 3rd was Dr. Seuss's Birthday. The kids could dress up like a character from one of his books. Can you guess who each one is.....
... Sarah is Thing 2 (because thing two shook Sally's hand in the book), Sam is Sally from "The Cat in the Hat". Carrie may have been the hardest, her book is newer. She is Sue Snue from the book "Who are you, Sue Snue?"
My beautiful youngest daughter turned SIX on January 31st. I can't believe she is getting so big. She is such a cute girl with a fun personality. She loves pink and purple and all things girly. She dotes on her new baby brother and loves to entertain her bigger little brothers in the mornings while her sisters are at school. She is in the afternoon kindergarten and is loving school. She has improved tremendously over the year and is reading very well now!
Here she is with her birthday breakfast, pancakes and sausage!
After breakfast she got to open a few gifts. Here she is with her dad just before present opening.
All ready for school!! (This dress was given to Sam on her 5th birthday, it has been worn by all of the little girls on their birthdays too... this is Carries third year wearing the 'birthday dress', it is now ready to be retired!) Carrie requested Duckie Cupcakes this year... I really like how they turned out. We took these to her classmates. After school and before Deric went to work we did cake and presents. Here she is blowing out her candles. A few days later Carrie had a few friends over to celebrate. They decorated cookies, did make up, had their faces painted, and had lots of fun. Over all her birthday was a great success.
For Christmas this year Wally gave Nelson a huge box of Lincoln Logs. They have had lots of fun playing with them. Here they are together "measuring" the building with their new tape measures that Santa brought for them!
Here they are with Deric (who is doing most of the building). They are still measuring!
The finished product (Wally didn't want his pic taken). It was so fun to watch Deric and the boys "building" together.
Carrie was also busy making her own little house. Meme decided to pose with her!!
And here is a random picture of Roy for your viewing pleasure!
This year we had two different Christmas concerts to attend. Jessica's was first on December 15th. It was a performance called "candle light" and it has been a part of the Ephraim Christmas celebration for 70 years! Jess did a great job at her part!!
Sarah, Carrie, and Sam had a traditional school Christmas concert on December 20th. Each grade sang a song and then the entire school sang one together. I love that it is a short and sweet performance. I actually sat longer before the concert (if you aren't there early you don't get a seat!!)
Yeah, she did it. Now Carrie can sing "all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth." She will have to do a duet with her cousin Evan who has a very similar smile right now!! She is very excited to be sporting this new look.
I am hoping that this is the first of two teeth to be lost this month by our cute Carrie (lost on Tuesday 11/29). She worked very hard to get this one out today. Now I have her working on the other. I'd love for her to be able to sing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!!" The other tooth is quite loose so it is a possibility!!
Carrie has a really fun personality. She is really evolving into quite the little jokester! She is a lot like her big sister Sam, and like her Dad!! Tonight she couldn't wait to share a joke/poem with us. Everyone laughed... I hope you enjoy it too!
I am a big fat turkey. You can't have my head. I'll sit with you for dinner! (We'll have duck instead!)
Our sweet and sassy Carrie (aka Bob) turned five at the end of January. We had a nice quiet day that ended with a few gifts from family. She couldn't wait though for the party scheduled for Valentines day. We had invited a few new friends to come and ex-change Valentines and celebrate Carrie's birthday. She had requested a heart cake.... because we have no oven right now(another story all together) I improvised with cupcakes that I had made earlier and froze until the night before her party.
You can't really tell from the picture but she has little hearts in her buns. She is also wearing the outfit that her meme sent to her. The skirt is fluffy and of all shades of pink! This picture isn't great but it shows her new doll house!I am so grateful for Carrie and the spunk that she brings to our home. She plays so well with Nelson during the day, and is always looking out for Wally. Happy Birthday cute girl!!
While in NH my sister cut all of our hair. Jess, had been waiting a long time and growing her hair so that she could donate it to locks of love. Here are all of the before and after pictures of the girls. They aren't their cutest pictures but they really show how much we cut off!!
Nelson and Wally and I had our hair cut too! Wally also had his picture taken because this was the first time we cut his hair. He did really well.
Here is cute little Wally enjoying his bouncer. He LOVES to bounce! He was having so much fun. I had left the room and went back to check on him... this is what I found....
Like I said... he is so cute, but what is that green thing on his head? "Hi Mom!" Upon further inspection you can see the green thing is a barrette that I know I saw Carrie wearing only a few minutes before. Ahh... much better! Carrie sure does love this little guy, and he loves her. She is always giving him things, this time she was trying to make him beautiful!!
The other day the boys were sleeping and I was sewing and noticed that Carrie had been quiet for a while. At first we couldn't find here. But it didn't take us long to look in the blanket cupboard... and there she was! She is very well known for sleeping in lots of different places and positions. I thought that this one was adorable!
Sleep tight princess!! (I closed the doors back up after I took the pictures.)
Many people relax after Christmas enjoying the peace and quiet after all the hustle and bustle of the Holidays. In our house there is no relaxing until after Valentines Day. Nelson, Carrie and I have birthdays in January (not to mention sister-in-law's, nephews, nieces, and a brother-in-law) then Deric and Samantha in the begining of February. This year we also have a niece getting baptized and Sammy's baptism as well.... Let me just say that things are still VERY hectic for us!!! Here is some birthday "news" to keep you updated....
Nelson's Birthday Jan 1 (yes I know I posted on his birthday but this is a picture and a video for his Meme!)
My Birthday Jan 22
Sorry no cute picture of me... photo shop wasn't working. But this is the yummy low fat low carb carrot cake that Deric made for me (I am really trying to eat healthy, and I honestly mean it when I say yummy!)
Jessica also asked her teacher to teach her "Happy Birtday to You" on the baritone... she had only learned it 3 days earlier... it was a very nice gift!!
Carrie's Birthday Carrie Joyce turned 4 on January 31st. She is an amazing little girl with lots of spunk and a mind of her own. I can hardly believe that she is four already... it seems like just yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital all dressed in pink. As the youngest girl you would think that she would get lost in the crowd, but not Carrie, she is always sure to be heard! I am grateful for this wonderful child that we have the opportunity to raise. She continues to teach me many things... we love you Carrie!
This first picture is Carrie 2 months old. The second is Carrie on her birthday and Wally 3 months old... can you see the family resembalance? Carrie LOVES Wally! We had a "rainbow" party the day after her birthday. The younger cousins and her friend Abby all came over for a fun time filled with rainbow fruit and cupcakes. Coming up.... Deric's Birthday was today and Samantha's Birthday is on Monday. I promise the posts will come soon!!
